Fractional Radio-Frequency MicroNeedling
in Capitol Hill, Washington DC
What is Morpheus8?
Morpheus8 is an FDA-approved radiofrequency (RF) microneedling device, meaning it combines the properties and benefits of both radiofrequency technology and microneedling procedures. During a Morpheus8 treatment, ultra-thin needles that emit radiofrequency energy are stamped into your skin to create a controlled injury, which, in turn, prompts collagen and elastin production—the two key proteins responsible for skin firmness, tightness, and smoothness.
Many other professional devices work the same way, but Morpheus8 is a bit different in that it (1) penetrates the skin deeper than most others, and (2) has a unique “burst” mode that allows it to treat multiple skin layers at once for a more robust collagen stimulation. Translation: It’s one of the most powerful RF microneedling treatments on the market, and most dermatologists say it yields some of the most impressive results.
How Does It Work?
A “stamp” of fine gold-coated needles is quickly extended into the skin at very precise depths (1-4mm in the face, and 2mm-7mm on the body) to target different layers of the skin. Then a controlled Radio Frequency (RF) energy is passed between only the very tips of the needles to stimulate the skin repair process.
What Does Morpheus8 Do?
It is hands-down the best non-surgical treatment for loose or sagging skin. It is particularly helpful for loose skin around the eyes and the jowls of the lower face and neck. The Morpheus8 Body handpiece is specially made to treat arms, legs, bra fat, back, and abdomen.
Morpheus8 Also Treats
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Scars (acne, surgical, etc)
- Stretch marks
- Improve skin texture and pigmentation
- Unwanted pockets of fat, such as in jowls or under the chin
Is Morpheus8 right for me?
Morpheus8 is safe for all skin-types.
Typical treatment packages consist of 3 sessions about 4-6 weeks apart, but will be personalized at your consultation appointment. Ideally, your consultation will happen 1-2 weeks before you intend to start treatment so we can optimize your skincare.
Do not have a true allergy to gold, Morpheus8 is not right for you. If you are allergic or strongly resistant to lidocaine, this can make your treatment more difficult.
What Should I Expect During the Treatment?
Your face will be thoroughly cleaned and it is best to arrive without any make-up on. There are two general options for pain control to help with any discomfort.
- Anesthetic cream – this would be applied to the entire treatment area for 45 minutes and then washed off of your face. This takes away some but not all of the discomfort. For some people, they tolerate the treatment with this step only.
- Anesthetic injection – small needles are used to place lidocaine (like novocaine) directly to the nerve so most of the discomfort is removed.
What Should I Expect After the Treatment?
Your skin will feel like it is sunburnt.. Soothing topical cream is applied afterwards., and you’ll be sent home with aftercare instructions.
It is recommended you wash your face in the morning with a gentle cleanser and wait 24 hours before applying makeup. Sun protection is especially important while you are healing. Its safe to go back to work immediately, though some people prefer to take the next day off.
How Long Do Results Last?
Your body repairs and rejuvenates the skin, starting in a few weeks, though results keep improving for months and last years! Results get better with time! A maintenance treatment once a year can help preserve your results.
